Marisol
If we had to pick the most amazing
accomplishment of the first year of the
Training Center, it would have to be that we
sent out our first deaf missionary!  Marisol left
on March 2nd and is serving the Lord in Los
Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.  Her duties are
Assistant Teacher in the Kindergarten class
and she also gets the five youngest girls
ready for school in the morning.  She is the
new person on staff and didn't know anyone
when she arrived so the initial adjustment
was a little hard.  Thinking back, it took me
about a year to adjust to Mexico!  Please
remember to pray for her.  She has about one
more month before she gets to go home to be
with her family for the summer.
Training Center Construction
Last March we started construction on the only two story building at the Ranch by adding a
second floor to the existing gym.  Our vision is to use these rooms to train our students in the
area of Evangelism/Discipleship and Vocational skills.  With the help of many groups we are
right on schedule and we plan to move in by September.  There are four classrooms - two for
Biblical training and two for vocational training.  We continually praise God for your help in
making this vision a reality.
Deaf Ministry Training Center
We completed our first year of the Deaf Ministry Training Center...whew!  We started in
October by teaching classes in Ensenada and here at the Ranch with great success.  We
had quite a kick-off few months with guest speakers and lots of in-depth training.  Then we
moved to the practical sharing of the hope that is within us.  We used some material from
e3partners that is specifically for non-literate people groups.  As teachers,
we had quite a learning curve but we managed to get one very important
bible story translated into Mexican Sign (LSM).  It can be viewed on
youtube, and is called LSM Creation to Church.
Deaf Ministry Internship
We have designed a internship program for hearing and deaf college-age
students who are interested in reaching the deaf for Christ, either in the
States or abroad.  We will provide classroom training, book discussions, as
well as practical experience in three avenues of ministry to the Deaf - Deaf
Education, Church Based Deaf Ministry, and Evangelism & Church Planting
among the Deaf.  Our purpose is to train people to go and make disciples
among the deaf.  MUCH planning has gone into this and we have already
received one application!
One other thrilling event was that our
Training Center students were able to
take a week off school and build an
entire house for a needy family in town.
A church from Washington State got so
excited about the vocational training of
our students, that they planned and
funded a home building project.  It was
an emotional time for all of us.  This
precious single mom in town received a
house, a group of Americans got to be
the arms of Jesus, and our Training
Center students got to see an entire
house go up from foundation, to roof, to
paint and curtains.  We are looking
forward to doing this again next year.

who are interested in
ministry to the Deaf,

Jose Antonio is the young man in the video and he has completed the first year of the
Training Center.  Five years ago he came to Rancho Sordo Mudo with no language and
didn't even know his name or that he lived in Mexico.  Now he is an outstanding story teller
and signed the entire story of Creation to Church.  We are praising God for all He has
done in Jose Antonio's life.  He is 18 years old and is ready to begin his new life in Christ.
Just for fun, here are some photos of the flowers in our yard.
