General Information
Rancho Sordo Mudo is a free Christian home and school for Mexican Deaf children.  The children come from different areas of
Mexico and live at the school from September through June.  The Deaf students range in age from 5 to 18 years old and some
stay for as long as 12 years.

The school's Spanish curriculum includes all subjects for kindergarten through 8th grade.  The students are taught Mexican
Sign Language (LSM) and they attend daily devotions as well as weekly Bible studies and church on Sunday.  We provide all
academic and biblical teaching on our campus, in sign language.

The Ranch consists of two school buildings which house 5 classrooms, a dining and fellowship hall, two dormitories,
carpentry shop, maintenance garage, gymnasium, vocational training, video studio, sewing classroom, playground and
swimming pool.  We also have separate housing units for full-time staff and interns.
Location & Housing
Nestled in Baja Mexico's wine country (Ruta del Vino), Rancho Sordo Mudo is an ideal location for reflection, learning, and
growth.  Interns leave television, phones and the hustle and bustle of American life in order to focus on God and a life of
serving others while identifying how God may use them to further His kingdom.

RSM Interns will have shared housing - double rooms with a shared common area.  Some housing units will have a
kitchenette.

Program Schedule
Patience and adaptability are a very important part of life in a third world country.  Americans are often on a fast-paced
schedule but most of the world is far from this routine.  This schedule is offered as a framework but will be modified as the
need arises.  We are first and foremost a ministry of God's grace and mercy to the Deaf in Mexico and this important RSM Core
Value may trump existing plans in order to follow the leading of the Spirit.  Be aware that the leadership may intentionally
rearrange this schedule to promote flexibility, creativity, and time management skills for the Interns.

February               Focus on Deaf Education and Language Learning
March                    Focus on Church Based Deaf Ministry - Use of visuals, Deaf worship, Object Lessons
April                       Focus on Evangelism & Church Planting, Chronological Bible, visits to Mexican Deaf ministries
May                        Focus on Deaf Missions - Behind the Scenes!, Mission Boards, Living in Community, Importance of Prayer.

Each "Focus" will have books assigned as required reading, which will be provided in the "Welcome Package" upon arrival in
Mexico.  If there are books to be read in advance, they too will be provided via mail to the Intern.
