INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
DEAF MINISTRY TRAINING CENTER
The new school year is off to a great start and we are full swing into the new TC classes for
our second year.  We have arranged the classes into three catagories:

Riverside Deaf School / Staff Enrichment
As part of our Staff Enrichment, we took our school principal and his wife, Johnny & Amber Thompson, to
the Riverside Deaf School for observation of classes and to meet with deaf educators.  It was very
informative and we were flooded with ideas that we are able to implement in our school immediately.
When we returned, one of our teachers needed to leave for a family emergency so Johnny was able to
practice these new ideas as he substituted in her class for 2 weeks!
Our work here in Mexico is funded entirely on donations and we are able to continue because
of the generous support of people like you.  All donations, year-end or otherwise, are
tax-deductible and will be used to bring the love and hope of Jesus to the deaf. For more
information on how to donate, please see our
Parnership Page.  Thank you in advance for
considering the support of this remarkable work.
Since we are reaching a non-literate people group,
whose language is visual, we realized that the gospel
must go out in a visual medium.  While our students
were home for the summer, we got to work building
and outfitting a VIDEO STUDIO!  Our students will get
experience in front of and behind the camera, and
editing.  We have no shortage of ideas and
enthusiasm so we will happily keep busy with this
project!

For their personal growth, the students are in weekly
bible studies which are primarily separated by gender
with occasional classes all together.
BIBLICAL
VOCATIONAL
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  We had such positive results from the classes last year
that we will continue with some of the same.  We will be building a house for a
family in town again so the boys have stepped up the construction training.  The
girls will make the curtains for the house and this year they will help paint the
interior of the house.
SELF-CONFIDENCE
Our students are gaining valuable skills, but we realized that they were lacking the confidence to use this
knowledge and skill.  So, this year we added an element to their training that requires them to get out of
their comfort zone.  We can all think of times when we were faced with a challenge that we thought was
insurmountable.  Then, when we were victorious through it, we gained an inner confidence to face future
challenges.  Sometimes the process of facing the challenge does not seem enjoyable but the results are
worth it.  Already this year, we've heard comments like "I can't do this" or "
When do I need to be ready??" or
"I'll never get this right."  We love seeing them fearful of the task and then elated at their progress!!  The
whole staff has noticed a lot more smiles on their faces!
Do you know young people who love the Lord and are looking for a way to focus that passion
and enthusiasm? Perhaps our
Deaf Ministry Internship is the answer.

Nestled in Baja Mexico's wine country (Ruta del Vino), Rancho Sordo Mudo is an ideal
location for reflection, learning, and growth.  Interns leave television, phones and the hustle
and bustle of American life in order to focus on God and a life of serving others while
identifying how God may use them to further His kingdom.

Our desire for each Deaf Ministry Intern, as they participate in this four-month program, is that
they will be prepared to engage in Deaf ministry either in the States or abroad.  We (Howard
and Janet) are the Program Directors so your young person will be in good hands...and we
will be sure they phone home!

Please spread the word to young adults who may be interested in this very unique
opportunity.  Click

After the first of the year, we hope to get the
students actual work experience in town.  Please
pray for this added aspect of the TC program.
There are a few hurdles to cross and we want to
walk (and hurdle) in step with the Holy Spirit.

Then, for further experience and growth, they rotate teaching the bible themselves
to the younger RSM students every Sunday morning and leading worship at
church.  All of this will be valuable experience when they leave the Ranch and
begin to minister themselves in other parts of Mexico.
All part of the mentoring process...  The TC boys, along with the two
who will start in January, came over to watch American football.
