Prayer Update
Prayer and dependence on God is foundational to all we do.  We are trying out this
new format for our prayer updates as a tool for our intercessors.  Please let us know
if you use it and if you have any comments or suggestions.  Thank you for praying.

PRAYER REQUEST
January
February
Marisol (20 yrs) - We are sending out
our first deaf missionary!  We are in
final preparations and training.  She
is finishing her Secondaria Diploma.
Her final exam is on Feb 9.  Her
math teacher, Johnny Thompson,
has gone above and beyond to
prepare her.  He is tired and under
the gun and can use prayer also.
We are also still trying to get all
necessary paperwork in order…in
Mexico, rules change depending on
who is in the office that day.
Praise the Lord.  Marisol passed her
exam with a perfect score!  You
guys were really praying your hearts
out!  She now has her Diploma.
She is all set to leave for Los
Mochis so we bought the tickets for
March 1st.  We are having a prayer
service for her on Feb 20th.  Pray for
her adjustment and total
dependence on God.
David (mid 20's) - Would like to
serve the Lord full-time, ministering
to the deaf.
Started helping in the deaf ministry
in Ensenada and has taught the
Bible class on occasion. Carlos
Suarez is mentoring him.
Stay faithful in his walk.  Continue
to sense how God might use him to
evangelize and minister to the deaf.
Julissa (16 yrs)  Approached me
and asked to join the class.   Born
again.  Artistic.  A lot going on
inside her.  Very loveable.
Has some anger issues.  She is
unsure how to process her  thoughts
and emotions.  Wanted to leave the
ministry and go home, but decided
to stay.  PTL since there is no one
at home who can communicate
with her.
We have her drawing pictures in a
blank journal to express some of her
emotions.  I think it's helping - she is
smiling a lot more.  We also had her
design Marisol's prayer card, which
gave her a tremendous sense of
worth.
Translating Bible truths/stories into
Mexican Sign Language
This is stretching our brains.  Many
deaf cannot read and have not
been challenged to use their
minds…ever.  Getting them to
THINK and do a very difficult task of
interpreting meaning and truth is an
overwhelming task.  We see this as a
exciting challenge...but still aren't
sure how to get the job done!  Pray
that all involved will not lose heart
(teachers and students) and that
God will give us creativity and
wisdom.
Our internet is sporatic at best.  We
seldom can stay online for more
than 5 minutes at a time.  But, we
would like to show the students
youtube videos of sign language
stories so they get an idea of what
we are trying to accomplish.  This
may end up being a word by word
translation project until we get them
moving on their own.  But, we are
encouraged that we have a group of
deaf Mexicans who are willing to
perservere.
Strength for the job.
Planning, working, thinking,
building, leading people, teaching,
planning, working, thinking…  You
get the idea.  All in a third world
country, away from family and
friends.  Also, Howard is a little
under the weather…just a cold.
Janet caught the cold.  No big
deal…just exhausting and a bother.
